It has been a while since my last post and plenty has happened since then.
The start of my Event filled July and August begins at Ascott Under Wychwood with Wendy Barke's lovely and talented ex racehorse, we had a lovely first outting together albeit a bit wet but a fantastic result for a horse has never competed in a unafilliated competition let alone a BE event so he was a super star. He now heads to West Wilts in September for the BE 90.
The next event happened to be the very next day with a very spritly Sky, we took part in the BE100open at Stockland Lovell where Sky did a lovely test although a little harshly marked. He was a bit bold and rocket like in the SJ taking a few poles but made up for it with a quick careful clear XC so much so he got time penalties for going to fast! So a good experience and lots learnt
Next I went to Area 14 Pony Club Eventing to take part in the Open area eventing qualifier at Bovington where they had created a new 1m10 (novice) course. We had a fantastic day Blue did a lovely test to gain 38 from Jenny Loriston Clarke, there were virtually no clears in the SJ but Blue pulled of a beautiful clear and stormed round the beefy and challenging XC. We finished 7th so we were very chuffed but just missed out on qualification............... or so I had thought, that was until we received a call from Area 14 rep to say I had qualified!!
In between the area qualifier and the Pony Club Championships I headed to Wilton with both Sky and Blue in the ON to get qualifying results to gain qualification for our first one stars together. It was a brilliant day kicked off by Blue who performed a average test against lots of pros and Olympic and 4* riders. He then went on to jump a lovely SJ round just taking one fence then going on to go clear and inside the time across a lovely big XC. Next it was Sky's turn who I was having my first novice ride on, so there was lots of pressure. He performed a obedient and accurate test in a hot fly filled air, he produced a 37 dressage mark. Next came SJ and after last times result SJ I was worried he may take the same approach this time, but how wrong could I be......... He sprung around the course with a lovely round just one down. XC he gave me the most amazing round, so quick and effortless so effortless that at a combination fence of a corner to one stride skinny feeder roll top we jumped the log presentation on top of the corner, lost all reins and one stirrup Sky with his ears pricked carried on like a gem to complete with a amazing clear. Both boys did me proud and I am now excited and pleased to tell you ...... WE HAVE QUALIFIED FOR GATCOMBE ONE STAR!
