As I write it is almost the end of February, we have been preparing the boys for the new season of eventing. Blue will be heading to swalcliffe at the end of March and Wally will be heading to a event early April. We have been flat out here working on flat work and stamina ready for the BE season, I plan to take both Wally and Blue out unaffiliated SJ and Dressage aswel as a schooling session around a XC course.
Fred our youngest member has been a little gem, we have been slowly bringing him on. He started off with us schooling on the lunge before we moved onto riding him! He has been very well behaved and within a week we have managed to get him walking off the lead and accepting a light rein contact.I have been using the RS-tor throughout Fred's backing and it has proved to be a key part to his kit bag! I would definatly recommend it to all riders ,and after using it on Fred I would definatly recommend it to any one who is breaking in or does break in youngsters. I have found an added bonus to the RS-tor that when you are breaking in a youngster the Rs-tor stops you from pulling on the reins during a spook or trip, youngsters are not used to a rein contact and a sudden pull on the reins could actually worsen the situation and frighten a horse...... the RS-tor eliminates this from happening. We are very excited by Fred's progress and cannot wait to get him out at Pony Club and eventing a little later in the season.
I will be attending BETA this weekend thanks to one of our sponsors- Stencilbum- I am looking forward to meeting some of the sponsors there and all the new horsey products in the equine world. I am also looking forward to catching up with Ash at Stencilbum to discuss what stencil to wear at our first event this season, I am stuck for choice!
The boys have been enjoying their lovely warm and durable rugs thanks to Konabo, I can honestly say they are the best rugs I have owned. I am amazed at the fact that Blue(I can break every rug I own) Rangoon has managed to not break this rug, Hooray! The rugs have servived everything (including rug breaking Blue), I love the fact that I can control when the liner needs to be washed. I have noticed a huge improvement in my horses skin health- Blue's skin was so bad he scratched all his mane out and he always had lumps and scabs- now they have lovely healthy skin and beautifully glossy coats, not to mention Blue has a full mane!
Roll on March!
