Wow it has been a few months since I last wrote on my website so there is lots to fill you in with. We took Blue to the Pony Club Championships, it was quite a trek but it paid off. Blue put in a Fab dressage test to lie in the top 6 the he stormed around clear SJ to move up. Unfortunatley due to tack issues we slipped back to 12th but I was over the moon to be top 12 at the Open Pony Club Eventing Championships.
The next stop was West wilts where I rode Bertie in the BE90, it wasn't a very good day as we later discovered after a vets trip he had a low white cell count so didnt feel his best and didn't complete the SJ. We also took Fred, after a last min call I was put in the BE80T, a big ask for a pony not even broken in for a year or seen a dressage arena! He proved the star of the day being the first to go of the class, 37 dressage and 2 down SJ and producing a mature and brave performance XC to go clear. I can't tell you how elated I was to have brought him on and to have got him round his first BE.
Our next stop after Pony Club Championships was GATCOMBE! It was my first one star so I was very nervous and made sure I was very prepared before I went. It seemed very danting as we parked up next to Pippa Funnell! Blue was the first to go on day one, he produced a lovely test had I not made an error- still he behave well in a electric atmosphere and we weren't last! Sky was next to go and ever the show off he produced a fab 58 mark test to put him in the top half of a huge field. Next day was the SJ and it was beefy and complicated nore than I had ever seen. Blue flew round to jump clear with two time faults and sky decided to walk throught the start backwards! Bar his stage fright Sky actually went round with just one pole down which I was over the moon with as this is his weeker phase. XC was next and ever the star Blue hop and skipped his way around enjoying himself to come home clear with a handful of time faults so....... double clear! Sky was also a star and jumped super until a coffin where he tripped and slipped on the bank coming out. I was still very pleased with him as I knew he had it in him for a top twenty finish and I was confident and excited to try out in the young rider trials. Blue finished in the top half so I was over the moon and every body got extra carrots for their efforts.
Next stop for Sky was Aldon-this proved to be a bittersweet event. After producing what I thought was a terrible test with two mistakes I moved straight into the top twenty! We jumped SJ to just have one down leaving us in the top 14!!!!!!! However it wasn't meant to be and we had to withdraw him, we were totally gutted and the choice was taken out of our hands which was a terrible end to the season. He was flying and was fit and keen for the XC but we had to withdraw him due to other reasons. So close to that top ten finish that day will haunt me for a very long time but he has proved he will take me to a top ten international finish one day.
I will update you again this week with the winter competitions and a exciting new sponsor so keep your eyes peeled!
